I am writing this as I am sitting on my couch in my p.j.'s sipping on some sleepytime tea. I am very excited about this post because it is to share some wonderful news!... I have decided to hold off on business school and go to school for cosmetology!!! YAY!!
After hearing Kandee Johnson's awe-inspiring story today I have decided to share mine. I have wanted to go to school for cosmetology since I can remember but I thought that my family did not approve. Everyone in my family is a teacher, doctor or nurse, or in business and every time I brought up cosmetology to my parents, they talked about it very negatively. (I also struggle with low self-esteem and I was afraid of what people would think if I were to start beauty school.)
This left me with a suppressed desire to still attend school for cosmetology, but no desire for any other career, so I just didn't go to school. I simply did not want to waste my time and money on something I was not interested in and would never use. After I got married I worked as a physical therapy tech, a receptionist, and a customer service director - all of which were very different but none of which I liked.
At 21, I had decided that I would just go to school for business because out of the three jobs I had, I liked the customer service job the best (or rather that is the job I was best at). I attended a private college for about a year before I found out that the classes I needed were not offered very often, so it would take me a VERY long time to get my degree at that school so I switched to the community college. After I changed schools, my credits did transfer, but only as humanities electives (which I only needed two of) so basically my entire year at the private school was a pointless waste of money.
After watching many of Kandee's videos I decided that I would go to school for business and cosmetology. After I introduced this idea to my parents they seemed a bit more open to it but that was overshadowed by the strict instruction that I needed to "make my mind up." Now, don't get me wrong, my parents are the greatest parents in the world!!... but I tend to take things to heart a little too much. Over the past few months I have been able to have several conversations with my parents about my desires, goals, and dreams which has led them to be 100% supportive of my decision to attend cosmetology school.
Last week I called the school that I want to attend only to get a voicemail. I left a message explaining that I wanted to start as soon as possible and asked them to get back with me. The next day I received a voicemail saying that the fall classes were full and if I had any other questions to give them a call.
So, here I am, with the strongest desire to attend school and support from everyone I love, but now I have no where to go... so I guess I am still going to school for business this fall. But, after I watched Kandee's video today telling about her background, my fire to get started with school and as a freelancer is stronger than ever!! I can't give up!! I have to just push through, rely on God, and do what I can in the meantime! Thank you for listening!
Lots of love!

Long Time, No Blog
WARNING: Very random!!
I am sitting in my living room with the windows open and it feels AMAZING! It is hard to believe that in less than 48 hours it is supposed to be snowing.
A little update of my life: I switched schools this semester which has been a huge change! I went from a private college to a community college (to try to save some money) and the difference in the quality of the teaching/teachers is enormous, so I have to study so much harder than before. That is my (lame) excuse for not keeping up with the blog.
I went to the girly doctor yesterday and she told me I needed to start taking a multivitamin, so on the way home I stopped in at CVS and picked up Nature’s Bounty Women’s Vitamin Pack. I was lost because I had no idea what to get, so I just got the pack to cover all my bases. Do you all take vitamins? What kind?
Anytime I stop in at CVS, I browse the makeup to see what kind of bargains they have and to my surprise they had a huge sale! It was not in the makeup section but on an end cap towards the back of the store. I got too much to mention but my favorite deal was a L’OREAL Wear Infinite single shadow in Golden Sunset, which is a great highlighter color... ok, guess how much I paid for this…. are you ready? 20 whole cents ($0.20)!!! I was so excited! A few of the other items I found were Milani blushes, Rimmel eyeliners, Sally Hanson nail polish and makeup, and perfume (With Love by Hilary Duff and Juicy). It was all on sale 75 – 95% off, with the majority being 95% off.
I will attempt to update more often but for now I better go. (I have an essay to write which I am not in the mood for. Blah.) Have a wonderful evening!! :)
